Question on Honda Power Generators?
Almost freeee asked:
Hi. I’m thinking about getting a Honda Power Generator. Talking to the dealer he told me that the oil has to be changed every 50 hours. So if I run it at the rated 9 hours at a time, does that mean that I have to change the oil once a week?
if I run at half load, will that extend the maintenance period?

it doesnt matter if you are running it at full load, 1/2 load, or what ever. you need to change the oil every 50 hours of run time, or every 3 months which ever comes first. run time isnt the only measure of when lubricating oil should be changed. the additive package in the oil breaks down over time, and that allows wear to happen because the oil can no longer keep foreign matter in proper suspension.

Yes, that is what it means..
If you have access to natural gas then get a dual fuel
gasoline / natural Gas Generator..
Natural gas is a much better choice of fuels than gasoline.
Better engine life…
No storage problems with natural gas..
No constantly having to fill the fuel tank every 8 hrs…

I would change it every 25 hours..Honda makes the best Gen-Set out there..Oil is cheap so why ever take a chance on Your oil breaking down…The hotter it is the faster it will break down..If your running your honda in say alaska at 20 below it will last longer then if your running it in 115 deg. temps…also from full load to half load is going to change its life…

think about it, $10/week for a Honda in oil or a good ol Kohler or Briggs and stratton. those will be cheaper in the long run.
Do the math sometimes.
