Generators for a House?

Patrick asked:

My electric keeps going out and during the Winter it’s really bad. Someone said I could get a Generator that would last 13 hours or more. A portable one. I see ones online for RV’s and Campers but nothing for the house that is reasonable in price. Anyone know what I should get and where I should get it? Thanks.

It depends on what you want to run. Maybe the refrigerator, a few lights, tv, radio. The more your want to run the higher wattage generator you have to buy. There are some good priced ones in the 5000 range but might be noisy. Honda sells some good quiet ones but are more expensive. Decide what your needs are and then look.
